I’m not a soldier

I’m a civilian.<br><br>I’m not living on a border.<br>I’m living in the center of Israel, almost an hour’s drive from the border.<br><br>I’m not guarding a base.<br>I’m guarding my home.<br><br>I’m not a border town.<br>I’m a city of over a half million.<br><br>I’m not a small village.<br>I’m the largest city in Israel.<br><br>I’m not on the border of Gaza.<br>I’m 37 miles from the border of Gaza.<br><br>I’m not in the south.<br>I’m in the middle of Israel.<br><br>I’m not near anything important.<br>I’m just an average civilian with an average home.<br><br>And I’m still in this damn war.<br><br>We all are.<br><br>No matter where we are in Israel.<br><br>No matter who we are.<br><br>This isn’t a war of military.<br>It’s a war against all civilians.<br><br>And you don’t get it.<br><br>You don’t understand that I’m not a soldier.<br>That I don’t have a vest and a gun and a helmet.<br><br>I’m just a civilian.<br><br>I’m just a person.<br><br>And I’m still in this damn war.<br><br>As much as any soldier.<br><br>And every one else who lives in Israel.<br><br>We’re all in this together.<br><br>We’re all civilians in this damn war.
