SVT (School Violence Threat Assessment) or school SVT's are a thing in some districts and I wonder what one's best approach is when you suspect or have evidence a student will commit violence.

Today, I had a meeting with our school SVT to say, "I think this kid will or has committed violence. I have some evidence I've collected." SVT was like, "Yeah, we dropped the ball on this kid and it's our fault." Then I inquired about the action plan.

They are going to drop the kid's placement on our school's threat assessment level and just change who they see for counseling. They didn't tell me what was wrong with the kid in the first place. Nor did they make a threat assessment in the first place. I think SVT is supposed to be a team.

SVT, counselors, principal, and Child Protective Services working together. Mental health, home life, academic, and law enforcement data all compiled to make an assessment.

The school SVT's dropped the ball in the first place and played it off like this was the first time they were doing this job. The kid is a threat to themselves and others. They have made outward threats towards other students. SVT's dropped the ball by not communicating with me.

I'm not a threat assessment expert, but I think SVT should say, "This kid is a threat." I think SVT should do this or SVT should do that.

I think it's SVT's job to make sure the supports are in place. If you have a threat to student safety, you should have a plan in place. "This kid is a threat. We have decided he's this level of threat. We've concluded..." I think SVT should say, "We've concluded or not concluded these things and this is our plan or not our plan. This is why we're doing this."

Somehow they were supposed to make an assessment.

I'm very perplexed about the whole thing. They offered me no recourse to call anyone or consult anybody else outside of SVT.

The action plan is a weekly counseling meeting with the school counselor. What's my agency in this situation? How to get SVT to do their job? SVT's dropped the ball on this kid and I'm not sure what's SVT's job.

The principal isn't backing them up. What's my agency in this situation? What's my agency in this situation when no one takes it seriously?

The district won't do anything. SVT dropped the ball. I'm SVT's point of contact.

I think the kid is a threat to himself and others. It's SVT's job to assess this kid.

The principal isn't doing anything. How to get the principal or the district to take it seriously? How to call someone outside of the school SVT to say, "SVT's dropped the ball."

tl;dr - How to get SVT (School Violence Threat Assessment) to do their job if you think a kid is a threat when no one takes it seriously?
