Anybody ever jump out of an airplane just to see what it’s like?

I had an incredible opportunity to skydive today in Interlaken, Switzerland. This was my first time ever, and I’m not sure if I’ll do it again, but man, what an insane rush. When the door to the plane opened and the first person jumped out, for a brief moment, it felt like we were all in some kind of dream, and it took a few seconds for me to realize we were actually doing it.

The jump was from 15,000 feet and we were in freefall for 45 seconds before the parachute deployed. I’m not sure if this is normal, but we were falling at 125 miles per hour during that time. The instructor gave me the option to steer the parachute to take in the views, and oh my, the views were something else. It felt like we were floating in the sky.

I thought about bringing my GoPro to record the experience, but my instructor assured me that their camera equipment is high quality, and they would take plenty of photos and videos for me. Sure enough, I got 150 photos and a video, and the quality is top-notch.

Of course, there’s the landing. I’m still in shock from how smoothly we touched down. I didn’t feel any impact at all; it was as if we were just floating gently to the ground.

I have to say, the whole experience was exhilarating, yet surprisingly relaxing. If you ever get the chance to do it, I highly recommend it. It’s a thrilling adventure that I won’t soon forget.

Edit: added some photos from the jump.

[IMG alt="The door opens and someone is actually jumping out"](/c/travel/s/ytibjnghfyr1)
[IMG alt="bloodcurdling scream as the plane door opens"](/c/travel/s/ho4mohthfyr1)
[IMG alt="we\'re falling at 125mph"](/c/travel/s/zosvohvhfyr1)
[IMG alt="this was the scariest part - waiting for the parachute to deploy"](/c/travel/s/dyfzg4hhfyr1)
[IMG alt="the parachute deployed, which was the most comforting feeling at the time"](/c/travel/s/g4e6o6jhfrz1)
[IMG alt="the instructor wanted a selfie, so we took one"](/c/travel/s/5y65n6jhfrz1)
[IMG alt="me pretending to steer the parachute"](/c/travel/s/zh2z2tjhfrz1)
[IMG alt="me pretending to be an action hero"](/c/travel/s/v9u32bjhfrz1)
[IMG alt="flying 4,000 feet in the air, and the snow capped mountains looked like toys"](/c/travel/s/loh4u8jhfrz1)
[IMG alt="one last photo before we land"](/c/travel/s/epm176jhfrz1)
[IMG alt="the landing was a total non event.
