Government Funded Healthcare Shouldn't Cover Everything

I'm Canadian. I love our healthcare system. I can go to the emergency room, get a prescription, see a specialist, etc and pay nothing. It makes me feel safe, it's saved me a ton of money in the past, and it's absolutely necessary.

However, this should come with some limitations. The system is severely underfunded, and it costs an absolute fortune to keep it running. I understand the attitude "we pay taxes for a reason", but we should have to pay for things that we are doing voluntarily.

I think if you start smoking after the age of 21, the government should no longer subsidize health care for smoking related issues. It's so simple to not smoke, but cigarettes are a major cause of health issues. People choose to smoke, the government shouldn't have to pay for the consequences of that. Same with excessive drinking, drug use, and poor diet choices.

Special exceptions obviously for people who started smoking before turning 21 and are unable to quit or people who gain weight due to extenuating health issues that aren't their fault.
