Is lockdown for the greater good?

A lot of people have been refusing to comply to the lockdown rules because they feel that it infringes on their rights as human beings. But isn't lockdown for the greater good? A utilitarian would probably think so; sacrificing comfort/temporary happiness for ones own safety and the safety of others, thus maximizing happiness. Alternatively, a lot of people have been stockpiling N95 masks and other essential goods, which I suppose you could compare to the lifeboat ethics thought experiment.
