Gemini can generate complex text, images, videos and audio after a question and it has been described as "a major leap forward". <br><br>Gemini is seen as a natural successor to Bard, Google's rival to ChatGPT, which was launched earlier this year. The firm says it is the first time that it has combined its best AI models into one system, although no further details have been revealed. <br><br>Gemini is the most recent AI model to have been announced, with firms such as OpenAI and Meta already releasing their own. <br><br>Google has said that Gemini can not only process normal search queries, but it can also remember what has already been asked to keep context. It has also developed an AI model called Imagen to create the images that Gemini produces. <br><br>Gemini is being integrated in a number of Google products, including Docs, the search engine and Bard - which will be rolled out by the start of 2024, according to a report. <br><br>The company has described Gemini as a "major leap forward in generative AI," However, the firm says that the software does come with some limitations. <br><br>Gemini is not able to browse the internet, although it can "generate information about the world beyond what it has been trained on," according to the BBC. - including events that have happened in the past few weeks - to a certain point. <br><br>Gemini can only summarise web pages using a service that called Gemini Web. However, it can only generate information using web pages that "people have allowed to be summarised". <br><br>The AI model also only has information up until 1 September and it has been trained on a huge dataset of information. <br><br>"This means that Gemini is not a web search engine," Google said. <br><br>"In most cases, Gemini will not be able to give you information on very recent events, and you should not rely on it in circumstances where getting the most up-to-date information is extremely important for your health, safety, or finances." <br><br>Gemini's memory of conversations is limited to 60 questions, and for more complex queries, the model will use Google Search. <br><br>Gemini has also been trained on a huge dataset  of information covering a wide range of topics including science, medicine and law. <br><br>The AI model is able to summarise information from web pages in the same way that Bard can. However, it has a host of new features including generating videos. <br><br>Gemini has been demonstrated in a number of examples on the Google website, including being able to plan a party  or answer complex queries. <br><br>The AI model has also been tested by the Financial Times, who say that the results are "stunning". <br><br>Google says that it is going to expand Gemini into more of its products and integrate it with other AI models. <br><br>The software giant says that it is going to make Gemini more widely available in the coming months, although a date has not been confirmed <br><br>Gemini is the latest model to be announced in recent days, with OpenAI releasing a new version of ChatGPT last week. <br><br>Gemini is also one of the first AI models to be able to generate videos after a simple prompt. <br><br>Google said in a statement: "Over the past year and a half, we’ve been working to develop the most useful generative AI in the world. <br><br>"After a great deal of research, engineering, and testing, we’re excited to announce Gemini, a major leap forward in generative AI. <br><br>"We think Gemini is the most powerful, helpful, and safe AI system we’ve ever built and we can’t wait for you to try it." <br><br>The company added: "Gemini can help you quickly come up with ideas, create art, and write useful things. <br><br>"You can also use Gemini to summarise information, plan a trip, or just have fun. Gemini is a system that's useful in so many areas of life."
