The worst aspect of GPT is the way it has changed the way humans interact with me

I study at a university and have to communicate with several people; some of which are the kind of people who get an F in an assignment and then DM you multiple times a day because they want you to edit it for them in the *hopes* that they get to the next grade.

Or the kind of people who will message you at 9:00AM and ask if you have edited their reports because they want to submit them *today*. *Today*! I mean, I guess I should get an F for not ruining my sleep for these individuals. It may be hindsight bias but I can’t recall people being so out of touch with reality before GPT came along.

Even the professors kind of expect you to be an unpaid research assistant now since it isn’t a big deal to do so anymore. It isn’t like I don’t enjoy editing content but I didn’t study for 5 years to be someone’s research assistant. It’s just exhausting to be treated in this manner *daily*.

Add to this the fact that most submissions have to be GPT free now, which usually entails sending a request to GPT itself to check if the content is AI generated or not or, even worse, having to physically check the entire submission for Telltale signs to ascertain if it’s AI generated or not.

Actually writing an assignment has become the least of my worries. I don’t know how people feel about this high school/post high school college education but it has become pretty exhausting with all the GPT stuff. I just want to do the assignments and have them graded; but with the way things are, I’m afraid this may be the norm. I hope universities change their stance on this soon since it is becoming quite tiresome; but I guess we shall see.
