Today, two of them are sitting down with me to take part in that effort,” said President Biden. “The CHIPS and Science Act is going to create hundreds of thousands of manufacturing jobs. But we need to keep moving at the speed of business to make sure we deliver for the American people. Today’s announcement is a major step towards that goal.”

Senate Majority Leader Schumer added, “The CHIPS and Science Act is a giant success story. Working very closely with Speaker McCarthy and President Biden, we got the bill across the finish line, and we are already seeing the historic benefits of this law: creating good-paying jobs, securing our supply chains, bringing work and investment back to the U.S., and making sure we outcompete China at every turn.”

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said, “The CHIPS and Science Act is a prime example of what we can achieve when we work together across parties and branches of government. Today, Apple is proud to announce a commitment of over $1 billion to build a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, TSMC Fab North, in Phoenix, Arizona. The partnership stands as a testament to what we can achieve when we work together to strengthen American manufacturing and drive economic growth.”

Finally, “These investments demonstrate the power of American innovation, and set the stage for a long-term commitment to manufacturing in the U.S. and our role in the global economy. From connected devices, advanced technologies and critical infrastructure, we are energized to build on the progress we’ve made so far with policymakers, educators, and business leaders to create a vibrant U.S. ecosystem and continue to strengthen the country’s position as a global leader in technology and innovation,” said CEO Tim Cook of Apple.

Today, Apple announced they are investing over $1 billion to build a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, TSMC Fab North, in Phoenix, Arizona. This facility – which will be one of the largest in the world – will create over 1,000 high-paying jobs and have a 2 million square foot footprint. This is the single largest investment in manufacturing in U.S. history. In response to the incentives created by the CHIPS and Science Act, Apple has committed to build this facility in the U.S. rather than overseas. This is a major expansion of Apple’s US manufacturing presence, and demonstrates the power of public-private partnership to grow the American economy.

Speakers:

President Joe Biden

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY)

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA)

CEO Tim Cook of Apple

Attendees:

Secretary Janet Yellen, Department of the Treasury

Secretary Gina Raimondo, Department of Commerce

Secretary Marty Walsh, Department of Labor

Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Department of Transportation

Director Lael Brainard, National Economic Council

Director Julie Su, Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service

Deputy Secretary Don Graves, Department of Commerce

U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai

Chair Lina Kahn, Federal Trade Commission

Chair Gary Gensler, Securities and Exchange Commission

Chair Philip Jefferson, Federal Reserve

Chair Alan Davidson, National Telecommunications and Information Administration

Ms. Liz Shuler, President, AFL-CIO

CEO Mary Barra, General Motors

CEO Jamie Dimon, JPMorgan Chase

CEO Bob Chapek, The Walt Disney Company

CEO Satya Nadella, Microsoft

CEO Marc Benioff, Salesforce

CEO Mary Dillon, Ulta Beauty

VP Ken Washington, Ford Motor Company

CFO Kathryn Mikells, Walmart

CEO Stan Deal, Boeing

CEO Corie Barry, Best Buy

CEO Brian Cornell, Target

CEO Doug McMillon, Walmart
