CMV: All men and women should be required to serve at least 1 year of mandatory service to the USA

I believe that mandatory service should be implemented for all able bodied people that are 18+.  There are many ways to serve the USA outside of the military such as fire fighters, peace corps, etc etc.  This should include women.  This would be such a patriotic unifying thing for the USA and all of our citizens.  If you can't serve the USA, why should you live in the USA?
