CMV: People who have been convicted of serious crimes should not be allowed to vote even after they've served their sentence.

This is essentially the opposite of the debate recently had by Democratic candidates in the US. Banning ex-convicts from voting is common in many countries, although the length of the ban varies. In some places like Singapore, voting and running for office is even banned for life, although there is some wiggle room in these places to get the ban rescinded if you've been well behaved.

One of the primary arguments against allowing prisoners to vote is that essentially murderers, rapists, thieves etc know that they won't personally face the consequences of their decision. If the economy tanks and someone loses their job as a result of a government policy then the prisoner will still be taken care of (jail provides food, a bed, a bathroom etc) while the person affected by the decision faces real consequences. There's also the idea that a lot of prisoners are voting for their own self-interest. A classic example being prisoners overwhelmingly voting to legalise drugs so that they can get high while in jail.

I'd also like to point out that prisoners have far more limited access to information. They don't have unfettered access to the internet, there's no mail in ballots, debate watching, rallying, etc. You're heavily reliant on secondary sources to make an informed decision. It's a complete farce.
