Is this not the most depressing thing you’ve ever seen?

I just got back from the grocery store in my small town and walking down the street I saw this building. Now it’s a dental clinic but it’s been a couple other things lately. Then I saw the words up at the top of the building. Since it was a dental clinic now I figured those were really high up and couldn’t be seen so I walked over to the building to see it more clearly. Sure enough it’s an old cinema. I did some digging and turns out it’s been closed down since 1955 and was built in the 1920s. It had been a type of vaudeville theater back in the day. It’s depressing to think that there was once a thriving theater just for performers and actors to come and entertain. Now it’s been dead for almost 70 years and it was forgotten. I just feel like it’s sad to think of all the people that came here to laugh and have fun and now it’s just for teeth cleaning. What happened to all the little theaters? I feel like this is what a lot of things in small towns that have been closed down go through. It’s sad to look at the building and imagine the joy that used to be held there.

It’s really sad, but also a little beautiful to imagine what it once was. I bet the building is empty and hollow now except for the dental stuff. It’s sad to imagine how long it’s been since someone has performed on the stage. Very depressing.
