A voice whispered in my ear while I was asleep

Staring into the dark ceiling, I couldn't help but think about what had happened earlier this year. My mother had died in her sleep at 56 years old. She had always been careful with her health, never smoked, never drank, only ate the healthiest food possible. There were no signs that her health was deteriorating. But one day, she just stopped waking up. My father found her dead in bed the next morning, he said he had heard nothing unusual the night before. I don't know why, but the fact that she didn't show any signs of illness just creeped me out. I started to worry about my own health. I started to listen to my body, to catch any signals, any signs that my health was deteriorating. But months went by and I was fine. Now I can't help but think that maybe she didn't die of natural causes. Maybe something inside her bed took her life away. Maybe the same thing was coming for me.

I shook my head in disgust. *Stop thinking about this shit.* I thought. But the more I tried to distract myself, the more I looked back at those thoughts. I had to stop this. I had to get some sleep. I looked at the clock on my phone. *1:33.* Nearly two hours had passed since I went to bed. I had to stop thinking about this creepy shit, or I wouldn't be able to sleep at all. It was getting dangerous at this point. I closed my eyes and tried to fall asleep. My eyelids felt heavy, and my consciousness slowly faded away.

When I opened my eyes again, I felt some pain in my head. I think I had hit my head against the wooden headboard. I looked to my left. My phone was on the floor. I rubbed my eyes, trying to get rid of the pain. *What the fuck?* My thoughts were all jumbled up and I couldn't think straight. But then I saw a figure in a white lab coat standing in front of me. I couldn't see their face. They were just standing there with their hands behind their back. I tried to talk but my mouth felt heavy. My tongue felt big, heavy and big. I tried to move my body, but I couldn't. My body felt heavy. I tried to move my hand to feel my head, but it was dead. I couldn't even move my fingers. My hands felt heavy. I tried to move my leg. It was dead. I couldn't even move my toes. My legs felt heavy. My whole body felt heavy. My mouth, my hands, my legs, all heavy. I tried my hardest to move my fingers, but they didn't even twitch. I was completely paralyzed.

"Why are you trying so hard?" The white coat asked calmly. Their voice was quiet and low. I couldn't tell what their gender was. "You can't move. And no one can save you."

I tried to speak, but the only thing that came out was a murmur. I tried to move my head, but it was dead. I couldn't even move my eyeballs. I looked straight at the figure in front of me. My whole body was paralyzed. I couldn't move anything. I was dead. My body was heavy. I couldn't even move my eyelids. My vision started to blur and my eyelids slowly dropped. I could still hear the white figure laughing. My vision faded to black and my consciousness disappeared.

When I opened my eyes again, I was alone in my bedroom. It had all been a dream, I thought. Sweat fell from my face. I rubbed my head with my hands. The dream had been so real. I unzipped my quilt and got off my bed. I walked towards the window and opened the curtain. My room was filled with natural light. I opened my window and looked outside. The sky was a yellowish green color. The sun was high above the clouds. My heart slowed down as I looked at the sky. *It was just a dream.* I thought. Everything was fine. My heart slowed down even more. I finally felt calm. Everything was fine.

"Hello." A voice whispered in my ear. My heart skipped a beat. My body froze. I had recognized the voice from my dream. I could feel the voice. I could hear it loud and clear. It wasn't a dream. I stared at the sky, my body frozen. *It wasn't a dream.*
