What are you trying to prove? (or why I hate weed culture)

I still have friends who use (recreational and medical) and that's fine. I'm not here to bash those of you who enjoy it or have benefitted from it. I'm just expressing a gripe I have that's developed over years of conversations with weed smokers.

\*\*\*

I didn't smoke regularly until my early to mid-twenties. Honestly I didn't really like it that much, until I did. Then I was hooked. I was one of the paranoid types, but I could function. For 13 years I enjoyed weed with the occasional drink on weekends. Then I realized I could function better without it and wasn't really enjoying it that much and just stopped. I was never an overachiever, but in the last two years I've accomplished more than in the past 10 years.

I don't consider myself an ex-smoker. That makes me sound like I still have a problem with it. I just decided to stop, but I've noticed a huge uptick in people trying to convince me to start again or stating their reasoning for why I shouldn't have stopped.

I don't care if you smoke weed. That's your choice, your business. Just don't try to convince me to smoke it. I've made my choice and you should respect that. If you feel the need to try to convince someone not to smoke, you have a problem.
