AITA for throwing out my son's stuff after he said he'd never visit us again?

I had a bit of an argument with my 25 year old son. He currently lives about an hour away and is visiting often, which is fine, but lately he's been staying with us more and more. My wife and I get along with him but we find him very annoying. He's not malicious or mean, he's just flat and boring and it gets to the point where we want to be alone, you know.

So a few weeks ago he said that he was going to a friend's house for the night but he was actually there for 3 days. I told him it was fine but next time he needed to let us know beforehand and he said that he hadn't been at this friend's house for that long for weeks now.

Then, last week, we were planning on doing something but he was home all day and we ended up not going after all because he was making us feel like we needed to babysit him. I told him I loved him but he needed to treat us like his parents and not roommates. He didn't like that and told me he'd never come over again, so I told him he had a week to come pick up his stuff. Some of it was sentimental to him and his sister but I was just mad and blurted it out without thinking.

The week passed and he never came, so I threw out all his stuff. It was mostly clothes and books, some DVDs and stuff like that, nothing important, but my wife is angry that I did that and my daughter hasn't spoken to me in two days. My son hasn't noticed but apparently he's been meaning to come over this week but kept forgetting.

My wife and kids are all mad at me and so are some of my friends. AITA?
