The recent pandemic has forced couples to cancel their weddings. The wedding industry is a large sector of the economy. Marriage is one of the biggest milestones in a person's life. Being unable to attend a friend/family's wedding due to the restriction of group size is a very big disappointment for both the host and their guests.

A vaccine wedding guest cover charge (VWGCC) is a fee that a guest needs to pay to attend a wedding. The VWGCC would be used to compensate the couple to pay for their guest's COVID vaccination.

I see VWGCC as being practical because the VWGCC would allow a couple to have their wedding with a full guest list wedding, if it were legal, without worrying about jeopardizing their guests health. The cost of the COVID vaccination will have a large variance among countries.

The main argument against VWGCC is that it is inappropriate to ask guests for money for a guest's COVID vaccination when the cost of the wedding is already expensive. I don't have an argument to address this because it is a vague statement.

EDIT June 24 2021:

To everyone who commented on this thread, thank you for sharing your perspective. I didn't expect this thread to blow up. I have no idea how Chambers works and found this sub through Google search. This is my first ever Chambers post. I thought this thread would be dead after 24 hours.

I don't have time to address each person's argument individually. I'll provide a counter argument for the common arguments. If you want to share your perspective, feel free to comment below. I appreciate any comments.

*Guests have the choice to get vaccinated before going to a wedding.*

The guest may decide that they don't want to get vaccinated before June 2021. A couple's wedding may be in Dec 2020. The vaccine may not be available to the public before Dec 2020. VWGCC solves this problem by allowing the host to cover their guest's vaccination if they want to get vaccinated before Dec 2020.

*The cost of a wedding, which includes a VWGCC, would be expensive.*

VWGCC is just a vaccine cover charge. This is not an entrance fee to get into the wedding. If a host charges a VWGCC, it is up to their guests to decide if they want to pay for the vaccine or not. The vaccine may not be available to the host's guest in their country for free. If a guest wants to get vaccinated before 2022, a vaccine may be too expensive for them to buy. The hosts may want to cover the cost of their guest's vaccination. If a host does not want to include a VWGCC, they can exclude a VWGCC from the wedding and choose to make the wedding an outdoor event.

*Guests may not want to get vaccinated*

VWGCC would give guests the option to get vaccinated. The host or guest may decide that they don't want to get vaccinated. The host or guest may decide that they want to get vaccinated. This is their choice. With the advent of the COVID vaccine, a host can offer their guests the option of covering their vaccine cost. If a host offers such an option, they may be exposing themselves to guests who have not been vaccinated.
