Open letter to OpenAI (Updated)

Dear OpenAI,<br><br>I’ve been a loyal supporter of yours since your products launched. I started with ChatGPT on the free plan when it first came out and started paying for the Plus plan in the first week. I was so excited to see what you would do with the future of AI and how it would improve my life. <br><br>I then dipped my toes into other products and services you provided, most notably DALL-E and Whisper. I was amazed with the quality of images that DALL-E would produce and was consistently blown away. Whisper has been a game changer for me in terms of creating transcriptions of meetings and recordings. I was truly a fan of all your products.<br><br>However, in the past 6 months, I have been consistently disappointed by your company. You rolled out GPT-4 and made it more difficult for me to use ChatGPT. I was no longer able to listen to the audio of the chat, as the website loads more slowly and the audio option is no longer available. I started using the ChatGPT app on the app store, which I thought was amazing. The audio feature worked well in the app and I was able to use GPT-4 entirely in the app. The experience was so much better than the website and I was excited to see where you would go from here.<br><br>That’s when you started making mistakes that I’m sure will have a long-lasting impact on your company. The first was deciding to charge for ChatGPT. I was expecting this, and actually understood why you would do this. I accepted it as the business model of a publicly traded company and would continue to charge for services.<br><br>Then it was announced that you were removing the app from the app store before 3rd party developers were given the opportunity to use the new APIs. This was the final straw for me. I can’t use the website because of the audio features. I now can’t even use the app. You forced me to find alternative services. I have been considering alternatives that you haven’t made available to me yet, but I’m not ready to jump the ship. I blame the board and higher ups at OpenAI for forcing me to look for alternatives. <br><br>I will be open to coming back when you offer:<br><br>1. A version of ChatGPT that is entirely offline.<br>2. Return ChatGPT to the Apple and Google app stores.<br>3. Offer developers the right to use all APIs before you implement them yourselves.<br><br>Sincerely, A disgruntled customer.
