I had a bad habit of boosting a few years ago. I was around 17/18 and I would always hit 7/11, it’s a convenience store. I would always steal them m&ms and chips and chocolate etc. I never got caught, I just stopped one day. I also boosted them m&ms and chips from the gas station nearby, the same clerk was always working. I probably stole $100 worth of candy, chips, and drinks. I also stole cookies from the store. They have those cookies in the packets. They are delicious. I also stole them from the gas station as well. I stole them so much that my teeth got filled with cavities. I had to get my teeth worked on multiple times.

The reason I did this was because I had no food at home. I didn’t have a car at the time, but I was able to walk to the store. I would always steal food that was easy to eat and didn’t have to be cooked. My mom and dad didn’t buy groceries, it was just me and my brother. My mom and dad were always arguing, it was a toxic environment. I’m not using this as an excuse, but I did this because I had to. I was desperate, it was hard. I didn’t have lunch money at school, my dad refused to buy me lunch money. I didn’t have bus money either. I walked to school and walked home every single day for more than 2 years. My mom and dad didn’t give me money. I didn’t have a phone either.

It did help me because I didn’t have anything to eat at home. I was hungry all the time. Now, I have a steady job. I have been working the same job for a few years. I have a car and a phone. I have been to another city and state. I have seen a lot of things. Things are much better now. I still live with my mom, but my dad is not in the picture anymore. He didn’t pay child support. He didn’t care about us. I’m glad he is not in the picture anymore.

I no longer boost. I am not a thief.

I still eat m&ms and chips to this day. I love them so much.
