So, Yeah... I Don't Do Drugs Anymore.

Let me start off by saying that, as a child, I was not huge on drugs. I was never flat out against them, like those people who, no matter what, will not try a drug. I was always like, "Sure, why not?" Now, however, I am one of those people who will not, under any circumstances, touch drugs. And I have a good reason for it. After what happened to me in 2015, I will never do drugs again. So let me tell you that story.

First off, I'm not a heavy drug user. I have never done anything illegal, like cocaine, meth, or anything like that. I've had some experience with weed and I was a regular user of Shrooms, but nothing too intense. I never liked things like LSD or Ketamine. However, I had always heard of a drug called DMT. The stories I heard about it were otherworldly, with stories of alien beings called the "machine elves" that you'd encounter when you were on the drug. I had always been interested in trying it, but never actually did. That is, until the fateful night in 2015 when I decided to give it a shot.

I had stayed up late one night working on some schoolwork I had to get done, so by the time I had went to bed, it was already about 3 am. I couldn't sleep though. I tossed and turned and moaned in frustration and eventually decided, "Fuck it, I'll just get up and have a smoke." So I got out of bed and headed to the kitchen, where I kept the weed. That's when I remembered. I had a friend who regularly vaped DMT and he happened to have left his vape there when he came over to hang out one day. It was still full, and I thought, "Why not. Might as well give it a shot." So I did. It was probably around 4 am at this point.

The high hit me almost immediately, and I felt nothing but vapid numbness throughout my entire body. I swayed and stumbled a bit as I tried to make my way to the living room. My vision was spotty and blurred, and I couldn't make out much of what was around me. I collapsed on the couch and closed my eyes, and that's when I started seeing things. Bright, flashing colors and shapes zoomed past my field of vision at breakneck speeds. I felt a slight tug on my consciousness and suddenly I was somewhere else.

I think the best way to describe this place is what I saw. Imagine you're sitting in a movie theater, and there are two large screens on either side of you. On these screens is basically just a never-ending array of random images. I remember seeing a picture of Bill Gates on one screen, and a picture of something called the " subroutine mask" on the other screen. I have no clue what the hell that is, but that's what it said on the screen. These images zoomed past at a breakneck pace, and I had to focus really hard to even make out what they were. I looked up at the screen in front of me, and saw that it was the same thing. So, to summarize, I was in a movie theater where three screens showed random images at a breakneck pace.

As I sat there, the images started to slow down, and soon they didn't change at all. On the screen in front of me, I saw a picture of my grandmother. She had died just a few weeks before I was born, so I had never seen her. In fact, my family owned only two pictures of her, and I had lost one of them. I stared at the picture of her on the screen, taking in every detail. She was beautiful, and I finally felt like I had met her. On the other two screens, I saw pictures of what I assumed were my ancestors. One screen had a picture of some random woman with a young child, and the other had a picture of some random guy in a yard. Soon, all the screens went black, and a spotlight turned on in front of me.

There was suddenly a table directly in front of me, and a woman sat there. She was frantically searching for something, but I couldn't see what it was. She looked up and noticed me standing there, and she did not look happy. She jumped up from her seat and started walking towards me. I turned to run and saw that behind me was what looked like a tunnel, but made out of some weird material. I had no clue where it led, but I started running towards it. I soon felt a hand grab my shoulder, and I was knocked to the ground. I looked up and saw the woman standing over me, a scowl etched onto her face. That's when I woke up.

I was drenched in sweat and my heart was pounding. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, trying to clear the cobwebs. I looked at the clock. It was 7 am, only three hours after I had gone to sleep. I was still dazed and confused, so I just decided to go about my day. I went outside, took a deep breath of the crisp morning air, and thought, "Well, maybe I'll never actually meet my grandmother. That's okay though." As I turned to go back inside, I saw something that made my blood run cold. Taped to my front door, in the same position that the pictures were in on the movie screens, were three pictures. In the center, was the missing picture of my grandmother. On the other two were the pictures I saw on the other two screens. Towards the bottom, in what looked like red paint, someone had written, "We will see you again."

I didn't know what the hell was going on, but I never did drugs again after that night.
