Where to start?

Hi. I'm a grad student going into my second semester with student teaching. I'm having trouble wrapping my head on how to start putting together the class I'll be spending the next 4 months with. I am overejoyed at the opportunity to grow into the teacher I am going to be while I work through this. However, I'm finding it very challenging to wrap my head around where to start. I'm moving into a classroom with an established teacher and students. I will be gradually taking over the class until I have full responsibility. I believe I am working with 11th and 12th grade English since that's what my emphasis is on. I feel more comfortable starting with the 12th since I've got very little time with them and less responsiblity to get them ready for college.<br><br>Any advise? I feel like I'm drowning a bit.<br><br>Edit: I am in the US
