Lately, there's been a lot of talk about how Democrats suck, Biden didn't keep his promises, and populism generally rules.

Democrats could counter this kind of 'populist' narrative through a bold maneuver like the following:

The US Senate Democratic leadership in caucus expels Manchin and Sinema for their actions against Democrats and the majority of Americans.

Democrats will hardly lose anything. A 50-50 Senate is a 50-50 Senate and Democrats will still need to work with Republicans to get laws passed. Manchin's and Sinema's votes aren't going to magically appear in the Democratic caucus even if they're officially Democrats. In reality, Democrats have been losing seats to Republicans because of these two.

The difference is that then Republicans will own these two Senators completely and bear responsibility for their actions. Manchin and Sinema would be identified as Republicans and lose their Democratic cover.

EDIT: Holy smokes, this went viral!

On serious notes: The 'take your ball and go home' strategy might be a losing one. Also, it's not that simple to kick someone out of the Senate caucus.

However, if you want to punish Manchin and Sinema, you can just not vote for them in the primary or general election. In fact, Manchin is up for election in 2024 in West Virginia of all places.
