What is it like to get caught shoplifting?

Hello! I am a high school student doing my senior project about crime and punishment and I am trying to get different perspectives on shoplifting. I want to know what it’s like to get caught for shoplifting and not arrested but instead being banned and/or trespassing from the store. Please be as descriptive as possible.
