One percent of people are living in a completely different world.

In the comments, I see two different kinds of people: <br><br>1. Those envisioning the world of 100 years in the future right now, in the present moment. AGI is an old story. Next big thing. It’s going to happen in a year or so. And we all live in that world - the world where AGI is a standard tool, like search, like calculus, like atomic energy. We can’t imagine what the world would be like without GPT-4. How did people live without it? We have to force ourselves to imagine a world without such useful tools. Right now, we imagine the world of augmented vision contact lenses and mind-computer interfaces. We all live in the world after the Technological Singularity has happened - an event that other people don’t even know is coming. We are living in 2123, envisioning 2154 and projecting it back onto the present moment. From our vantage point, the present is so old and boring - a world where people have jobs because they need to eat, where people worry about money, where most people don’t even know about the AGI. From our vantage point, the present is black and white, grainy and slow. <br><br>2. People who are only starting to hear about AGI and AI. They are entering the world of the people in the first group. They heard that OpenAI is a big deal. They want to know if it is going to replace their jobs? What should their children learn? Will it be a boon or a problem? How did people live before AGI was invented? How do we live now? From our vantage point, the world is so bright and colorful, fast and dynamic, so different from what it was just yesterday. <br><br>And then there is the rest of the world - the world that doesn’t have an idea what AGI is, or AI, or actually what a computer is. Such people are the majority. They don’t know that their world is about to disappear. And they are not alone. Even people in group two don’t know what the world with AGI would be like. Not truly. In 10 years, they will be in the same position as we are now - people who are living in 2133 and envisioning 2164.
