A universal basic income is so simple it has to happen in the next few years. Automation is a proven technology, companies are replacing jobs with it, and the people from these jobs will have no money. Without money they cannot buy the product that allows them to live. If no one can buy the product, then companies are not going to sell it. Therefore companies will have to give people money for free, or the automation business model won't work. You can't make money if you don't have customers that can afford your product. All countries will eventually have UBI. It's inevitable because of the circular relationship between customer and producer.
