For the last 5 months, every time a new episode of Yofukashi no Uta (Call of the Night) came out, my dad, who's in his 70s, would always ask me "did the episode come out? what did you think of it?" Even though he's never actually watched the show (and in one instance thought it was a hentai), my dad's askings were really endearing to me and it always made me happy to see him excited for me.

The other day, my dad had a stroke and became unable to move his left side. He's currently in the hospital being rehabilitated. The first episode of the second season came out a couple days ago. I thought that this would be a good chance to show my dad Call of the Night, since it's one of my favorite anime and I thought he would like it too.

He was very confused for the first half of the episode, but I could tell he was really enjoying it. He was laughing out loud at the jokes. Before the episode ended, my dad had to go to therapy, so we stopped just as Nazuna was about to show Ko the night.

Today we finished the episode and he loved it. He really loved the atmosphere of the night, as he used to walk home late at night when he was younger. After we finished watching he told me he's excited to watch more, and that he wants to go to Akihabara with me when he's feeling better.

Call of the Night is a very special anime to me, as it's an anime I can share with my dad. A lot of times my dad won't watch an anime I recommend to him, but he loves this show. I'm so happy I can share it with him.

Yofukashi no Uta (Call of the Night) is a very, very special anime.

Edit: Holy shit this blew up. Thank you so much to everyone who's been giving me kind words and wishes for my dad. I really appreciate all the love you guys have given me. ?
