What is the most asinine law you've come across when it comes to guns?

I was on Remington's website and if you go to one of the pages where it lists the models, there's a little drop down to select what state you're in and what the guns can be sold in that state. In California, you can't have a pump action shotgun with a detachable mag.

It seems pretty common for states to ban detachable mags on most firearms, but out of all the things they can ban, why would they ban pump action shotguns with a detachable mag specifically? If I'm not mistaken, the only model that Remington has like this is the 870 DM. You can still get it with a fixed mag.

I guess my question is, why would the government care so much about this to go through the effort to specifically ban it? It's not like they would be used by any mass shooters. I can see pistol grip shotguns being more likely to be used for that than a pump action shotgun.

Also, sorry if there's a thread already on this topic. I didn't see it.
