My sister loves to play a prank on the neighbors...one day she got the wrong address.

Our neighborhood is full of older people, mostly retired men and women who were born in the 40s and 50s. One of the things they do for fun is to have these potluck block parties in which pretty much the whole neighborhood gets together to eat, mingle and have a good time. It's a very sweet thing to see, many of them are very good friends and they welcome the newer, younger families with open arms.

A few years ago one of these parties was organized by a very sweet lady in her late 60s. She's a very kind person and a good cook, and she spent days organizing everything and making sure all the neighbors could come. The party was going to be at her house, in the backyard.

During the days leading to the party, the lady would go from door to door passing out flyers and personally inviting everyone in the neighborhood to her party. She spent hours doing this, and on the last day before the party she went to our apartment, rang the doorbell and gave us a leaflet.

The leaflet went straight to the garbage can as soon as she left, my sister and I aren't really into those kinds of parties, we don't have much in common with the other people in the neighborhood, who are much older than us. We had also moved recently and didn't know most of them.

A couple of days after receiving the invitation my sister had a weird idea, she would put the exact same flyer in the mailboxes of our neighbors, but only the ones she didn't like. She had recently had a fight with a guy named Mark, who lived to her right, so she wrote his address on the leaflet and put it in his mailbox. She did the same with some other neighbors that she didn't like.

That weekend the day of the party arrived, and around 2 pm the music started at the lady's house. She had spent hours preparing everything, cooking, setting up tables and chairs, etc. She had promised to have lots of food, drinks and music, and it seemed like she had done a good job. On our street we could hear the noise of people having a good time, laughing and talking.

My sister and I were at home when the doorbell rang. We were surprised to see a couple in their 30s, whom we had never seen before, standing at our door. They had the exact same flyer my sister had received a few days before, but with the wrong address. The woman told us they were looking for Jane's house, because they had been invited to this party. My sister, embarrassed, told them we didn't know Jane, but that it seemed to be the party at the lady's house on the corner, and explained how to get there.

They left and we forgot about the whole thing until around 5 pm, when the doorbell rang again. This time it was a group of four people, two men and two women in their 20s, also with the same flyer. They too were looking for the party at Jane's house, to which my sister replied the same thing she had said to the couple.

It was then that we realized what had happened. My sister had written the wrong address on the flyers she had delivered to the neighbors she didn't like, and instead of delivering them to Mark and the others, she had mistakenly delivered them to houses that were not even in our neighborhood.

It turns out that my sister doesn't pay close attention to details, and she didn't change the address on the leaflet. She had written Mark's address on it, which is 1473, but instead of putting it in Mark's mailbox, she put it in the mailbox of a house with the same address but in a different street, one that we didn't even know existed until then.

The party went on for hours, with people constantly coming to our door looking for Jane's house. My sister and I were terrified and didn't know what to do, especially when a group of five guys showed up around 9 pm. One of them was very angry and asked us why we were playing a prank on them. My sister, scared, told them that she wasn't playing a prank on them and that she herself had received the same flyer a few days ago. The guy didn't believe her and started yelling at us through the door, calling my sister names and threatening to call the police.

We were really scared, my sister didn't know what she had done and she didn't want things to escalate. Her solution was to write the correct address on a piece of paper, which I left on the door. When people came looking for the party, they would read the note and go to the correct address.

The party went on for hours, until late at night. The music stopped around 2 am and from what we heard the next day from other neighbors, many people who didn't live on the block showed up looking for the party. The lady was very confused and didn't know what was going on. Many of the people who showed up were mad, asking what kind of prank this was.

My sister got lucky, the lady never found out that we were behind the whole thing. However, Mark and some other neighbors did find out, and my sister has been known as a weirdo in the neighborhood ever since.
