I am from Europe, and the first time I came to India was 5 years ago, and since then I have returned to India multiple times spending 500+ days in this country, and I love it!

As I spend a lot of time on Chambers, I decided to join this community, and as it appears, I stumbled upon chambers post after chambers post about India, and how much people complain about India and how many things are wrong with India.

I am just a random guy who had the privilege to be able to come to India, and with all the stuff I complain about in India, I thought I would write down a list of things that are not quite right with India, I guess.

1. **Driving**: I have seen the scariest things in my life in India. What is wrong with you guys? Because you have to honk all the time, and cars are not meant for the sidewalk, or the other way around. I have almost had heart attacks hundreds of times because of the way people drive, and because it is so busy!

2. **Noise**: Noise from cars, people talking loudly, noise from construction - India is so noisy. Stay calm, folks!

3. **Moral Corruption**: By this, I mean what I believe most people here call "bribery". When it comes to the traffic police, you can pay 100 rs. to avoid a fine of 2000 rs. you have to pay because of your mistake, which makes no sense at all! Furthermore, some cops would not even care if you drove drunk, or without a helmet, as long as you give them something in return.

4. **Rude people**: I have met so many rude people in India, I lost count. Be it people calling me "white dog" many times, or people calling me names in Hindi because they assumed I couldn't speak Hindi (does not matter if it is true or not, I think calling people names because of their color is rude no matter what). I have also met many Indians who are nice and friendly, but unfortunately, this was not the case every time I met someone.

5. **Scams and thieves**: My girlfriend had her phone stolen on Delhi Metro. A few minutes later, she got a call asking her to send 3000 rs. or else the thief would delete all her phone data. She did it, because she didn't know how to track a phone. I once had a guy who was clearly a thief asking me where I was going and where I came from, and I thought he was just asking me because he was interested. It took me some time to realize he might be a thief, and I stopped answering his questions.

**But I love India, because**

1. **Cheap**: India is a very cheap country to live in, at least if you compare it to European countries. That's why I was able to spend so much time in India.

2. **Good food**: Indian food is great, especially because of its diversity. Almost every state in India has a different cuisine, and I have enjoyed many of them.

3. **Fast growing economy**: India has a very high potential because of its constantly growing economy.

4. **A lot of kinds of people**: India has a lot of people from different backgrounds, and many different ethnicities, which makes India interesting for a tourist like me.

5. **Many things to see**: India has a rich culture and history, and for that reason, it also has many things to see. I have always thought India is not that big, but I have now realized that India has so many things to see.

6. **Nice people**: As I have said above, I have also met many nice people in India. Some of them have become good friends of mine.

7. **English speaking population**: Many Indians can speak English, many even say that India is the second biggest English speaking country in the world, which has its advantages for tourists like me.

8. **Cultural diversity**: As India is a multi-ethnic country, I can enjoy many different cultures, and not only Indian culture.

9. **Democracy**: India is a democratic country, and I am not aware of any other democratic country in South Asia besides India. It means many Indians have a say in their country's politics, even though a lot of Indians don't even vote.

10. **I can say "I lived in India"**: I am proud to say I lived in India for 500 days. India is a country where no day is like another day, as there is always something going on no matter where you are in India, or where you live. It is a great experience you can have if you live here for a long time, as I did.

**Edit: Thank you guys for your comments! I really appreciate your feedback**
