Concept:

Alexa for the deaf. The idea is just about anything that Alexa/siri/home does, but with captioning and sign language capabilities. If you’re deaf, and you call for emergency services, the device can interpret and let the operator know you are deaf and to look for the video feed. If you ask Alexa to tell you a joke, Alexa can appear on the screen in a hologram and tell it to you in sign language. Waking up in the morning, Alexa can flash/sleep the lights to wake you up, etc. All of the features that Echo Home Siri have, but also for the deaf and hearing impaired.

Using the echo show / home tablet or additional tablets you can put around the house, it will show the person talking to it in sign language in a hologram.

I just set up my echo show and I thought this would be a great idea. I know how ***hard*** it is to talk to someone when you don’t know the language. If you tried to talk to someone who only knows Portuguese, And you only know English, the conversation is going to come to a quick halt. Imagine if you will, a deaf person trying to communicate with someone when they don’t know sign language. It comes to a very quick halt, and they ***can’t*** communicate with each other. I was saying a command to Alexa when my GF walked into the room and it scared her because she didn’t see me talking and thought Alexa was possessed. I thought immediately, this is how people who are deaf can get around that. If someone walks in the room and Alexa is talking in sign language, it gives them a clear picture of what’s happening around them.

There has to be so many more features I haven’t thought of, but it just seems like this could help a lot of people.
