AITA for telling a professor that I can’t afford one of his textbooks?

I just started my first day of college today, and I was talking to one of my professors about one of the textbooks that he requires to buy. I went to a book store on campus looking for the text book and they told me they didn’t have it yet, so they told me to go ask the professor in person. I asked him if they just haven’t been shipped to the store yet, and he told me that he didn’t ordered enough because he had extra from last year. I asked if he had atleast one extra that I could borrow and I’d bring it back at the end of the year and he said no and said I should of bought it online. I told him that I can’t afford it right now and will have to wait a week for my next paycheck, and then he just looked at me and went “oh well.” He went on to say that if he gave me the book it would be unfair to the other students, so I told him that he’s being unfair by making everyone pay $300 for a book. I don’t want to pay $300 for a book I’ll only use atleast 4 times all semester, so I asked him if it was still okay if I didn’t do the first assignment since I didn’t have the book, and he told me that if I don’t do the assignment I will fail the class. He told me that if I complain about finances then I shouldn’t of went to college. I told him that I took out a loan to pay for college and that he’s making me realize why so many people are in debt. He told me that I didn’t have to take out a loan and I could of applied for financial aid. I told him it’s not that easy for everyone and I would atleast hope that a professor would understand where I’m coming from, and he just looked at me and told me “no.” I walked out of his office feeling really bad and I told him that I hope the rest of your day goes well, and he told me that it will be now since I’m out of his office. I just walked out of his office and went back to my dorm. He was just so mean and rude and I don’t understand. AITA for telling a professor that I can’t afford one of his textbooks?
