I was on my way home when I saw her. Literally just standing in the middle of the road. I slammed on my brakes to avoid her car and then the middle aged woman just walked up to my window. No fear, no pain, no signs that she had just been hit by a car. If I hadn't seen her just standing in the road a second ago I would have thought she was just some nutty woman walking down the street and crossing the road.

"Whoa. You ok? I just about ran you over" I said.

"No I'm fine. You're the one I'm here to see." She said.

"Well you're not fine. You just got hit by a car and you seem like a damn zombie." I said.

"I wasn't hit by a car. And I'm not a zombie. I'm your daughter." She said.

That sentence caught me off guard. My daughter had been born about 4 months ago. There was no way this was my daughter.

"How are you my daughter?" I asked.

"I'm your daughter from the future. And I've come here to help you." She said.

"Prove it. How am I supposed to believe you?" I asked.

"How am I supposed to prove it? I don't know enough about your life to prove that I'm you daughter. If I did I wouldn't be here." She said.

"Then why are you here?" I asked.

"I'm here to keep you from making a mistake. Something big is going to happen tomorrow at work and you're going to do something that will mess up your life as well as others. I've come to guide you through the situation." She said.

"What's going to happen tomorrow?" I asked.

"If I tell you then you won't do what you need to do. All I can do is guide you. I'll be here tomorrow, guiding you through the situation. Just listen to me and everything will work out." She said.

"Wait, how am I supposed to hear you?" I asked.

"That's complicated. Just be ready for me to guide you." And with that she turned and ran away. I sat in my car dumbfounded. That was the most insane thing that has ever happened to me. I'm still not sure if it actually happened. Hell, I'm pretty sure it didn't.

I finally started driving again and got home. When I walked in the door my wife gave me a weird look.

"You ok?" She asked.

"Yeah I just had something weird happen on the way home." I said.

"What happened?" She asked.

"Some lady stopped me and said she was my daughter from the future. Pretty weird, but it was probably just some crazy lady." I said.

"That does sound crazy. Maybe you should be careful who you're picking up tomorrow." My wife laughed.

"I don't usually bring strange women home." I said.

"I know. I'm just playing around. So anyway, how was the night?" She asked.

"It was good. Just had a couple drinks and talked to the guys. Saw one of the other guys get really drunk and puke all over the place. Made us all laugh." I said.

"That's hilarious." My wife laughed.

"Yeah. You know how it is." I said.

"Yeah I do. Well I'm going to go to bed. I'm really tired." She said.

I went to bed as well, still thinking about the weird encounter. It was probably dumb of me to ignore the warning, but I couldn't let some crazy lady I met on the street guide my decisions. I knew what I was doing. I could handle anything that happened to me.

The next day I went to work without much of a thought about the woman on the road. I got there and hung out with my coworkers. One of the guys had just come back to work after being overseas in the military for 3 years. We were all catching up on the time that we had lost. I had lunch and then went back to my desk to finish some work that I had been doing. Still nothing weird had happened. No voice in my head guiding me. I started to really think it was just my imagination.

I had just sat down at my desk when the flood gates opened. There was a loud noise and the door at the other side of the room burst open. Then the other door burst open. Then the windows started shattering. The room filled with smoke and I couldn't see anything at all. I just covered my mouth with my shirt and stayed at my desk.

"Holy shit. What the Fuck is happening?" One of my coworkers shouted.

"I think it's terrorists! We're in a tall building, they probably picked us as a target!" Another shouted.

"What are we going to do? The stairs and elevators are on the other side of the room. We can't go that way." Another said.

"We need to find another way out of here. Does anyone know any other exits?" Someone asked.

But I knew this was coming. I knew what was going to happen. Or at least, I had been told what was going to happen.

"I know a way out. Follow me." I said calmly.

"Why should we follow you? You're not the boss!" My coworker shouted.

But then I heard the voice. It was the voice from the road. My daughter from the future.

"I'm your only chance at survival. Listen to me and stay alive."

The others tried to find a way out, but I listened to the voice and followed the path it guided me along. I made it out without a scratch. The others were not so lucky.

When they asked me how I made it out I told them. I tried to hide the voice part, but they still looked at me weird.

"You're telling me that some woman on the road came up to you and told you how to escape a terrorist attack?" The cop asked.

"Not exactly. I mean it was just a crazy lady. I don't think she really knew. I just had a feeling this was going to happen, and I knew how to get out." I said.

"Sir, I think you're in shock. Why don't you go to the hospital with your wife and have yourself checked out." He said.

I walked away and went to the car with my wife. As we got in the car she looked over at me and said "You know, I think that crazy lady might have actually been your daughter from the future."

"You don't actually believe that, do you?" I said.

"I don't know, but it's possible. And even if it's not, what she told you saved your life. So either way, I'm thankful to her." My wife said.

"That's a good point." I said.

"I'm just saying, you should listen to her. She might know more than you think." My wife said.

"I know. I will." I said.

I looked in the rear view mirror. There she was, standing in the road as I drove away. I waved at her and mouthed "Thank you." and she waved back. Then as I kept looking she turned and ran away.

I don't know what just happened. I don't know if that woman was actually my daughter from the future. And I don't know what's going to happen tomorrow. I'm just going to have to wait and see.

Currently I am in a hotel with my wife. We can't go home because it's blocked off. We might not be able to go back for a while. Until then, I'm going to have to just sit in this hotel and wonder what just happened.

For now I'm going to get some sleep. Tomorrow will be a long day.

EDIT: Because this story has been getting a lot of attention and there have been lots of requests for sequels, I'm going to write one. Look for part 2 in a couple days. It will be an entirely different perspective though, but it will be a direct sequel.
