All my guns were stolen and I think they were taken by a police officer

I live in Maryland and have kept in my home my father’s guns that he used in the police dept as an officer back in the 80s. Drunk and high out of my mind one night 2 years ago I let a woman I was seeing at the time use my house key while I was away on a business trip. She said she needed to stay somewhere for the night and I was “cool with it”.

She was texting and calling me all night trying to get me to send her money so she could get home. I was just oblivious because again I was high af and was also drunk. I was saying things like “get home however you can” and “get a job” lol. I just thought she was being lazy until she said she was getting pulled over.

Long story short she was pulled over by a cop and she was driving my car. She said she was in jail and was released and said she had “dropped my car off to a friend and it was all good”.

I find out the next day I fly back to my home and come back to my house and find it completely trashed and all my valuables were gone. She had stolen all of my belongings including my dad’s guns.

The police couldn’t find any record of her being arrested so I assumed she was just lying and took the money I sent her.

2 months later I get a call saying they “found my car”. I get to the police station and it’s in immaculate condition. Just no plates. It’s weird because I distinctly remember there being plates when she was pulled over but maybe I’m going crazy.

I have my friend drive me to my car and they said they found it in a field with no one in it and it was missing plates.

I’m walking to get in my car and I hear one of the cops talking to another cop near me about how “the chief had ‘found’ my car and had it impounded and the chief was ‘driving it around’ to keep it ‘safe’”.

I ask the cops “well why didn’t the chief just drive it to me then?”

They looked at me with this nervous look and said “yeah I don’t know but it was weird”.

I’m thinking she stole it and used it to sell my guns at some point in time but it’s odd that the chief is driving it around.

So I’m walking around my car to make sure everything is ok and there’s bullet holes in the bottom of my car and scratch marks as if someone had shot up my car with bullets hitting the underside. It’s weird.

I tell the police and they just say it “must’ve been my friend that was driving around” but I don’t really have any enemies and I couldn’t think of a reason they would do that unless they were trying to drive into someone.

So I kind of was just ready to move on and I get a call saying someone I’ve never heard of was using my license plates on their car. I get to the police station and sure enough my plates are on a car I don’t recognize. The person driving is some random person I’ve never met and they say they had ‘bought the car from someone on the street’.

I have to go to court in a few weeks to press charges and I’m thinking, man this is gonna suck that I have to take off work and hope they find the person who bought it.

So yesterday I get a call from the police saying they “found the person who sold the person my car my plates”.

I go to identify the person and it’s a cop at the police station I was at when I picked up my car.

So now I’m in a situation and I don’t know who to trust. I’m going to pursue this to the end but they already know where I live and it’s the chief of police who seems to be the one involved in all this if that makes sense.

What do I do? It’s been 2 years and I just want to know what they did with my dad’s guns and now I’m worried that the cop has been using my dad’s guns to commit crimes. It’s just so shitty.
