CMV: A man should cover (100%) a woman's expenses for the first year of their relationship.

Hello. I am a 30F and have been in a few serious relationships in my life. I still hear , "ladies first" being said by even the younger generations. (I don't agree with this and find it to be very sexist.) I still very much believe in chivalry. I believe that for the first year of a relationship, a man should cover 100% of the woman's living expenses. <br><br>The first year of a relationship is critical in building the relationship and should be enjoyed by both parties. It should not be a financial burden for either. It is very common , in today's generation, for the man and woman to split expenses. Splitting expenses can put a strain on the relationship. Women are encouraged to be independent now. This thought process has led to more women making the same or even more than men. However; Traditional gender roles are still in place when it comes to dating, most of the time. <br><br>For example, a traditional gender role would be the man planning , paying and initiating dates . A traditional gender role would also be the man paying all of the bills in a marriage. Today's generation calls this "old school ". However; these traditional gender roles still , take place today. In fact, many women expect these gender roles to take place and find a man attractive when he adheres to them. <br><br>Many , modern women are breaking down the barriers when it comes to gender roles. The fact that gender roles are still in place during dating , is why I believe a man should cover a woman's expenses for the first year of a relationship. <br><br>Every man and woman is different.
