I (40m) have a 16 (almost 17) year old daughter, Emma.

She is a cheer captain at school.

Her and her friends have been in a rivalry with a girl named Lexi for a few months now.

Lexi is on the team too, but Emma and friends don’t like her because they think she’s “weird”.

This has been going on since the school year started and when I asked about it back then, Emma didn’t want to talk about it.

I told her to just be nice and make sure she stays on the team.

Recently, there was a cheer competition and Lexi’s mom showed up.

I was glad to see her and went over to say hello. When I did, Lexi got upset and started crying.

Her mom asked me what I did and I said I was just saying hi.

Lexi ended up running out of the gym.

Her mom followed and said I caused a scene and should have left her and Lexi alone.

A week later, I received a call from Lexi’s mom asking why my daughter and friends were bullying Lexi.

I said they weren’t, but she went on to tell me that they had taken pictures of Lexi when she farted at practice, then posted them online.

She said that they have been making fun of Lexi like that for months and that’s why she reacted the way she did.

I told her that I was unaware of any of this, but would talk to Emma about it.

She said she reported the situation to the coaches and they did nothing.

I called her a liar and said she was just making shit up because her daughter is “weird”.

She told me to google the pictures and I laughed.

I hung up and googled the pictures and they were there.

I was shocked to the say the least.

Now, I wasn’t sure who to believe, so I called the coaches and asked if anything was reported and they said yes.

I asked what they did about it and there was a long pause before they told me they did nothing.

I asked why and they said there was no report of anything being done.

I told them what Lexi’s mom said and they said it wasn’t true.

I asked if Lexi was in the locker room when the pics were taken and they said yes.

I asked how they ended up on the internet then and they said they didn’t know.

At this point, I was angry.

I told them that they were lying and to tell me the truth.

They told me they took the pics and posted them.

I asked why and they said they were just “messing around”.

I told them I couldn’t believe they were telling me the truth and they got mad at me, saying I had no right to question them.

I said I was going to call the principal and they told me to mind my own business.

Now, I was fucking irate.

So, I got in my car and drove to their house.

When I got there, I rang the doorbell and the mom answered.

I told her what the coaches told me and she looked shocked.

Then she got angry and called the cops on me.

They showed up and asked what I was doing.

I explained the whole story and they were shocked.

They said they would talk to the coaches and that I should go home.

The next day, I received another call from Lexi’s mom, asking if I had anything to do with the coaches getting fired.

I said no, but I went to their house and told the mom that they were fired and that I felt bad for her and her daughters.

Lexi’s mom got mad and said I was lying and that I had no right to tell her anything.

I said she deserved to know and she said I was causing more drama.

I told her I wasn’t trying to cause anything and she said I was making Lexi’s life worse.

I said she wasn’t doing anything and Lexi’s mom said to leave her family alone.

Now, I’m wondering if I over stepped.

AITA?
