Why are you people that angry? A heartfelt question

Thank you so much for creating the Discord! Emotions are high. Tensions are high. I am purposefully ignoring the vile stuff. I have a good friend who I've known for years, I had no idea she was anti Israel. I'm not sure how she made such a big leap, but I'm concerned. I want her to be happy and safe. I want us to be happy and safe. I'm very anti war and pro peace. I was so excited when I saw the news about Israel and the UAE being friends now! That feels amazing! I want to understand the people who are so angry. I follow this sub and I see a lot of that. I've subscribed to Al Jazeera to learn more. I like to imagine that we are at a table in a coffee shop chatting about the topics we are passionate about. I'm here to listen to the angles that don't get talked about in mainstream media. And I want to share a perspective as a Jewish person, I am not Israeli but I think we're a pretty interesting subculture. I'm not here to pick a fight, but to learn and listen.

I cannot think of a single war that has ever been good for anyone, or any situation where hate was productive. I know that people in the Middle East are suffering and that breaks my heart. I've been listening to a lot of old podcasts and I heard one with a guy in Gaza and it really touched me. I hope this person is doing well. I listen to a lot of podcasts, and the people and stories that really resonate with me are the ones that don't paint the world in black and white. That's not my perspective. I think we're all in this together.

So, please tell me, why are people angry? What are they fighting for? What do they want? Do you feel like people in the US and other Western countries are unsympathetic? We do have a lot of internal issues that we're focused on. This feels like a good time culturally where we're discussing a lot of important issues that have gone unaddressed and it's nice to see people coming together. Is there anything people can do to help and support those suffering in the Middle East?
