where did the best social media site go wrong?

the site died at some point. in my opinion it was after the boom of alt socials like parler, gab, and voat. why? because all of a sudden the site was flooded by normies who couldn't understand that this site isn't for them, and that we aren't concerned about their "rights". the influx of non-people drove away our best content makers and anons. the site became a ghost of its former self. i just want my old chan back.
