She was covered in blood. That was the first thing I noticed.

I recently started driving for one of the rideshare apps. I am a student and need the extra cash, you know how it is.

Until now it has been a good way to earn some extra money, I even enjoy it. I get to chat with a lot of different people and see a lot of different places. I haven’t had any problems or issues until very recently.

A few nights ago I got a notification. I was closest to the ride, so I got assigned the ride request. When I looked to see who it was and where I was going to take them, my heart skipped a beat.

Picked up: Jamie.
Dropped off: Jamie.

I thought it was a joke. I have never had a ride request like that before, plus my name is Jamie too - it was a little weird.

The first thing I thought was that someone I knew played a little joke on me. It was possible. A lot of my friends knew I was driving, and my friends are the kind of people who would think this was a funny thing to do.

I pulled up to the address, which was a bar/restaurant, and sure enough, a woman walked out and towards my car.

She got in the backseat.

“You, uh, don’t have to pay for this ride. It’s on me.”

She smiled slightly, but didn’t really make eye contact.

“It’s ok.” She said. “I have money.” Then she opened her purse and pulled out her phone to set the address.

I could see the corner of a fifty poking out of her purse. That was probably a good sign that I was going to get a good tip.

She set the address and put her phone away. “You know, Jamie, you’re really cute.” She got really close to my ear when she said it.

I have had rides try to fluster or get a reaction from me in the past, but this was the first time someone really got under my skin. I felt a chill run down my spine.

Her breath was cold on my neck when she spoke. It was weird because it was pretty warm out at the time. Almost hot.

I pulled out of the parking lot and onto the main road. It was pretty late, so there weren’t a lot of cars out. But we managed to stop by a red light just out of the parking lot.

I looked in the rear view mirror. She was covered in blood. That was the first thing I noticed.

Then I realized that it was me.

I was driving.

I was looking in the rear view mirror, but I could see myself. I was covered in blood.

I looked in the backseat. She was covered in blood. That was the first thing I noticed.

Then I realized that it was me.

I was sitting in the backseat.

I was covered in blood.

I looked at my hands, they were resting on the steering wheel, but they were also on my lap in the backseat.

I looked in the rear view.

There I was. Backseat. Covered in blood.

I looked behind me. There I was. Driving. No blood.

I looked in the rear view. There I was. Backseat. Covered in blood.

I looked behind me. There I was. Driving. No blood.

That went on for a while.

Every time I looked in the rear view, I could see myself in the back. Every time I looked in the back, I could see myself driving.

Someone honked their horn. The light had gone green and I was just sitting there.

I hunkered down and focused on driving. It was only a few minutes to the address she had listed.

It was a cemetery.

I pulled up and she opened the door. She grabbed her purse and hopped out.

I looked in the rear view. I didn’t see myself.

I looked in the back. I didn’t see myself.

She opened my door. I don’t know how she got there so fast, because I looked in the rear view mirror, looked in the actual rear seat, and then looked back at my door, and she was there.

She pulled me out. I didn’t try to struggle. I don’t know why.

She dragged me out of the car. We walked across the cemetery.

We stopped.

I looked down.

She was covered in blood.

That was the first thing I noticed.
