The kids are becoming increasingly unhinged

I’ve been teaching elementary for 14 years and I have never seen kids like they are now. <br><br>They are so mean and violent and unhinged. I’ve never been hit, kicked, or scratched at work. We don’t usually get kids with severe behaviors and usually the kids who do have behaviors are truly remorseful and feel bad. <br><br>This year we got a new student (only she’s not new she was there for 3 years and left and came back). She’s been back for a month and she has scratched, kicked, and hit so many kids and she doesn’t seem to care. She’s not included with kids because she’s mean… she can’t play with blocks because she’ll throw them, she can’t play with dolls because she’ll wrestle them and hit. <br><br>I have other kids that just aren’t equipped to deal with their anger. If I move a chair, they will wail and hit themselves and the walls. They just cannot handle frustration at all. They will get so angry and wordlessly just destroy the classroom. <br><br>It’s becoming too much. They need help and we can’t give them the help that they need. I love them and want to help them so badly but the rest of the class is suffering. I’m becoming a behavior manager and not a teacher.
