Hello dear travel community. I am a seasoned traveler that has lived all over the world (grew up in the middle east, lived in South East Asia, now living in South America). I am 33 and I still wear a fanny pack for all my travels or at least I use it for all the day trips that I go on while abroad.

It does not matter which way you spin it, they are a travelers best friend.

There are so many reasons for this... 1. It's the best way to protect yourself from the pickpockets of the world. 2. It keeps your hands free and gives you a better range of mobility since you are not carrying a backpack. 3. It is the most comfortable way to carry all your things and makes you feel a lot more secure knowing that all your goods are safe and in front of you.

There's a stereotype that fanny packs are for old, fat Americans that get off a plane at their all-inclusive resort in Cancun, Mexico but this stereotype is fucking bullshit. They are for anyone that wants to travel easy, be hands free, keep their belongings or money safe, or have comfort for their day-long trips.

A few weeks ago I went on a trip to Machu Picchu and the entire time I had my fanny pack on which kept me hands-free to be able to explore and go on different hikes. I was also able to keep all my valuables safe.

This past weekend I went to a flamenco festival here in Colombia and I felt a lot more secure having all my belongings in my fanny pack and in front of me.

I am sick and tired of people shaming others for wearing fanny packs, and I think that we need to break the stigma and tell the world that it's perfectly fine to wear a fanny pack.
