Why do people like ecchi anime?

I can't get into them and I never will. What's the reason for watching anime that has panties plastered all over the screen all the time? It just seems so stupid. Why not watch hentai instead if you want that stuff? It just doesn't make any sense to me and I don't understand the popularity of ecchis.<br><br>Edit: Is this the most downvoted post in /c/anime history?
