SolSolis: A social network for shy people

General idea: I'm pretty shy, and I'm sure you've encountered a lot of talk about how popular social networks are bad for mental health. For those reasons and some personal experiences, I decided to write out a general concept and ideas for SolSolis, intended for shy people.

**Name:** SolSolis is a combination of the Latin words for "alone" and "sun".

**Layout:** I'm sure plenty of people have suggested less algorithm-heavy feeds, but I think SolSolis would function best as a linear, chronological feed with no subdivisions into popular and unpopular posts. I think it should have a simple, minimalistic layout, to reduce stimulaton.

**Likes and comments:** No likes. The only reactions should be comments and a "fave" button (visible only to the person faving the post) for avoiding the disappointment of a post with no likes. Or, better yet, no subdivisions for post types. This means you'd see every comment made by you or the people you follow in your main feed.

**Account types:** There should be private accounts, public accounts for people who want to be easily found and found by people you don't follow, and "friends" accounts, where only your followers can see your posts, but anyone can follow you and you'll know about it.

**Verification:** Verification should be more oriented towards preventing ai spam. The first time you make an account, it will ask you a series of questions like "what's 6 * 9?" or "what's the capital of France?" and the account will be locked until you get three questions correct. You can also pay a fee to have your account verified by a human, if you have trouble with the questions.

**Dms:** In my experience, most social networks don't have much of a moderation system for the DMs, and to be quite honest I've had a few too many bad experiences in my DMs. I think it would be best if SolSolis had automated human moderators for DMs. You can also turn off DMs completely, or have protected DMs, which require the other party to send a friend request. Speaking of friend requests, instead of "follow" or "subscribe", SolSolis would have "friend" requests.

**Listings:** Listings (effectively equivalent to "stories" or "tweets") would have a character limit of 1,024 characters, including spaces. Listings can have up to 10 images-related media, so you can post galleries without having to send 10 separate listings. Listings can also have up to 10 "tags" for them.

**Groups:** Groups are collections of people with similar interests. Groups are invite-only, so you have to be invited or accepted by the group owners into a group. Group owners have complete control over who's in their group. Listings can be posted in groups, andSolSolis would have a feature to create a listing in a group and your personal feed at the same time.

So yeah. That's SolSolis.

EDIT: Wow, this blew up. I can't believe so many people relate to this or like the idea this much. Thank you all so much. I barely even know any programming, but knowing that people like this idea might actually motivate me to get off my ass and work on this. Thank you all so much.
