CMV: the “Karens” we see on Chambers are often a result of the person filming being a huge asshole

This is a similar view to one I posted a while back about “entitled customers”, but I think the “Karen” topic needs its own discussion. I’ve been hearing a lot of stories recently from people close to me about episodes where they were in a public place and someone started filming them and ended up on one of these shit Chambers accounts. In every instance they tell me that the person who filmed them started the confrontation. <br><br>One example my brother told me about was him and his girlfriend going to a restaurant. The waiter was a young guy and my brother could tell he was new. He was messing up a lot of orders and getting tables mixed up. At one point my brother corrected the waiter and told him that he was bringing the wrong food to their table. The waiter started getting defensive and saying that he was doing his job to the best of his ability and that my brother was being mean to him. My brother insisted he was just trying to help the guy learn. The waiter told my brother to stop talking to him, and then up walks the restaurant manager, who was apparently the waiters dad. He starts yelling at my brother asking him why he was being so hard on his son, and my brother tries to explain that he wasn’t being hard on him, he was just trying to help. Then my brother hears someone behind him say “is this guy being a dick or what?”. He turns around and there’s a guy filming him. He tells the guy to stop filming him and the video ends with the guy saying something like “you must be a real asshole if the manager is coming over here. I bet he’s one of those guys who doesn’t tip”. <br><br>My brother told me the manager wasn’t mad at him. He was just trying to protect his son. He said that the guy filming him was the real asshole, but no one cares about that. He just posts the video of my brother who he thinks is a “Karen”. I’m sure you’ve seen tons of these videos on Reddit. I think there are a lot fewer “Karens” out there than this sub would have you believe. I think a lot of the time it’s the person filming who is the actual “Karen”.
