I (28F) thought it was a date, he (28M) says it wasn't.

**Throwaway because I have some of my real life friends following me on my main.** <br><br>Yesterday was my birthday so I posted some photos of the celebrations on Instagram. The photos were from the weekend because we celebrated it on Saturday because my bf was off that day.<br><br>One of my guy friends commented on the post saying something like "happy belated birthday" to which I replied thanks but he did say one sentence that caught my attention. He said "I thought we were going to celebrate your birthday together last week but [bf's name] said it wasn't a date".<br><br>I messaged him asking more questions and he said he thought it was a date because my bf picked him up from home, drove him to the restaurant and bought his food. He also said he apologized to him for thinking it was a date.<br><br>I asked my bf about it and he said it wasn't a date. He said he only drove him to the restaurant because it was on the way. He said he only paid for his food because he didn't bring enough money and said he'll pay him back next time. He said he didn't want him to feel awkward about not having money so he paid for his food.<br><br>I think it's a huge lie. It was rainy that day and his house is not on the way to the restaurant. I've been with my bf for more than 5 years and never has he picked me up from home and drove me to the restaurant.<br><br>I feel so betrayed. I feel like I'm living a lie. I don't know what to do.
