Some people are missing the point.

I've been hanging out in worldbuilding for a while now, and I have to say that I love that people are talking about ChatGPT, but I think some of you are missing the point. There are wonderful tools and capabilities that come with advanced AI, and I think many of us are worried about the negative impacts.

I want to add that I think ChatGPT has the potential to inspire. If you feel like that's cheating, that's up to you. I think it's more like a dream and brainstorming. The key point that I think we're missing is that we can use these tools to discover new things that we never could have come up with on our own.

I think that's what I want to convey the most. AI is a tool and it's okay to use it to help yourself brainstorm, and it can bring joy and excitement to the creative process. But if you're using it to spit out a whole book, I think that's a waste. I'm not sure I agree with the idea that using AI to generate creative content is the same as using a calculator. It's different and I think we have to acknowledge that.

I think we should all take a moment to step outside of ourselves and view worldbuilding in a different way. Why are we here? Why do we come to this space? For me, it's been a hobby for years, and the point is to have fun. Why is it that people are so afraid of AI? Is it really because we're concerned that an AI is capable of doing what we can do? What an ego boost! But really though, do we need to create complex characters, stories, and worlds? I don't think so. It's nice to have, but it's not required to create a good story.

These are just my thoughts, and I hope that people take it for what it's worth, which is nothing.
