Why do single moms make MORE than childless men?

I had a woman tell me that she wanted a kid and her job can pay for a nanny so she should be able to easily support a child. I told her that she wouldn't be able to and that it's not that easy. She told me that I was wrong and that she can afford a child because she can provide for a child and herself.<br><br>Then I asked her the other day, why do single moms need welfare? She just said it's because they don't have a job that can pay for childcare so they need help paying for a nanny. I told her that her job can pay for a nanny and she makes MORE than most men and she also makes more than most single mothers and that I was right that single moms can't afford to take care of their kids.<br><br>Why is it that a single mom needs help paying for a nanny when a single woman who makes more can afford to pay for a nanny?
