The skunky smell is real and it's so bad

I live on a ranch in Texas where we have a lot of land and not many neighbors, so the skunk smell isn't a bother. I'm posting this to confirm that the smell is as bad as people say it is. We have a highland cow, a jersey cow, a few kiko goats, and a small flock of chickens.

We have tried different feed, ointments, and creams. The wind is brutal out here and it doesn't matter if the wind is blowing towards you or away from you, the smell sticks to your clothes and hair.

I just don't get why skunky weed, skunky kombucha, and skunky beer can be a good thing but skunky cattle are not.

Here in Texas, our cows aren't fed hormones, steroids, or antibiotics. I can't say how things work for other breeders or large farms. We evolve our cattle to live well in warm and dry climates. They get to live their life.

We received a warm welcome into the ranching world, and we've received a lot of love and support since we're diversifying our livestock. We are learning from bigger ranchers.

Drink a skunky beer and think about skunky cows.
