Honestly, what’s the point of men?

No, seriously. What are men’s historical reasons for existence? The vast majority have never been productive or accomplished much, nor have they ever contributed to society much. Most have never served in the military, nor have they gone to war. The few who have are celebrated as heroes. But what about the rest of them?

The same cannot be said of women. Women have always been essential to society and the survival of humanity. Women have always done so much, yet have been treated so horribly. From harvesting and gathering to birthing and breastfeeding, cooking and cleaning, to being sex slaves, to being caregivers and teachers to children, as well as friends and confidantes, supporting others, and making the world a better place. Women also work, juggle careers, make a difference, support causes, help underprivileged people, invent things, help others, contribute to our world, are an integral part of society, have done many impressive and innovative things, and are generally the best thing that humanity has ever seen. Most of them have done something useful and productive, and have helped make our world a better place.

Now, men have a few useful traits. They are good at lifting heavy objects and doing some manual labor, but now with machines, we don’t need men for that. They are also better at fighting and killing because they have more muscle mass and higher testosterone levels, but we don’t need that now either. They could protect us from harm, but which one of us hasn’t been harassed, assaulted, or otherwise mistreated by them? And most of them don’t protect us anyway.

Men are not essential to reproduction, and have never been. Women can reproduce without them, and reproduction is not the reason for their existence. They are not good at raising children either, and have never been. Emotionally vulnerable men tend to be abusers who hurt their children, women, and pets, because they are so self-centered and fragile. If you have been a victim of child abuse, or know someone else personally who has been, ask yourself what your/their life would have been like without them.

But why do men exist? They seem useless, lazy, self-centered, and abusive. They are an unfortunate byproduct of evolution, but that doesn’t mean we have to put up with them.

I am genuinely curious, what are some things that men have done that benefit society? I can’t think of any.
