witches who were burned alive were said to come from "transylvania" which is most likely Romania/Ukraine. the only proof of witches is from a story written by a german which completely lacks historical accuracy and so when lithuanians say that witches came from lithuania they only really know about it because the USSR said so. the communist party had a massive campaign to get russians and other soviets to view lithuania as the source of witchcraft and so when lithuanians came back to their own palaces they were decrepit and so they were used for the mystery academia. the lithuanians were then told by the communist party an entire history for that country and so they grew a massive pride in it even though there is no evidence that it was ever a part of lithuania
