Most adults do not make a big deal about being touched, and this is a big reason why kids are afraid of doctors and other adults.

As an adult, I am not a prude and have no problem with being touched. I do not make a big deal about being touched. Now, I am not talking about inappropriate touching (like inappropriate sexual touching in the genital or breast areas) or bad touching (painful touching). I'm just talking about innocent touching: like someone giving you a hug, putting their hand on your shoulder, getting a hug back, or someone giving you a high five. Most adults (who are not prudes) are okay with this (as long as it is appropriate and does not make them uncomfortable). Now, compare this to most kids. Most kids are extremely afraid of being touched. Most kids do not want to be touched. In fact, they go to great lengths to avoid being touched. Most kids who are touched by adults, who they do not know, get angry and annoyed and just do not like it. It makes them super uncomfortable and fussy. The only people they are okay with touching them are usually their parents and friends (and maybe close family members). This is a big reason why so many kids are afraid of doctors (including their own pediatrician) and other adults.
