My boyfriend won't let me buy him gifts

My boyfriend (36) has this thing where he doesn't want me (35) to buy him gifts. His reasoning is that he makes more than me, so it should be the other way around (me receiving gifts from him).<br><br>I'm not a big fan of receiving gifts. I would actually rather give them. Since he makes more than me, I would like to spoil him but he doesn't want me to. It hurts me to not be able to show my love to him.<br><br>How can I approach this situation without making it weird? Or is it just something that's unfixable and I just have to respect his wishes?<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>UPDATE: Thank you everyone for your comments. I showed him this thread last night and he was appalled that 95% of the comments say he's an ass. He said he needs some time to think over his actions. He also blocked the app from viewing so I can't see his reaction.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>UPDATE #2: He told me yesterday that he's been using me for money. He said that I've been paying for everything since I met him. He said that he's upset that I get to spend my money on whatever I want, but he doesn't want me spending it on him. I demanded that he pay me back the thousands that I've spent on us for the past year and he said that he doesn't have it. I broke things off and he's moving out on Saturday.
