What happened to the anime industry? (A very serious question)

I'm going to split this post into three parts: my origin story, the issue, and the question.

**Origin story:**

I've watched anime on and off my entire life (being Asian and all), although I would say I've truly been an avid fan of anime since I was ten. I'm 22 now. I was introduced to anime by my father with Dragon Ball and since then, I've always been hooked on anime. Since then, I feel like I've been through many eras in anime, from the explosion of anime during the early 2000s (Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, Death Note, etc.) to the more modern marvels like Attack on Titan and Re:Zero. I don't think I'm the only one who will agree that the quality of anime has gone down over the years. Why is this the case?

**Issue:**

What exactly has caused the decline of the quality of anime over the past five to ten years? There has been a shift in the global awareness of anime, but that can't be it. I feel like it's just greed and overproduction. Anime is very lucrative right now, and everyone wants a piece of the money. I don't think the amount of quality creators and studios can keep up with the demand. Also, the increased amount of big budget light novel and manga LN adaptions have caused a decrease in the amount of original anime and adaptations of smaller source material. I've been disappointed in the quality of most anime adaptations of smaller source material and the amount of dropped or changed content that doesn't make sense for the story or narrative.

Many of the big companies like Aniplex and Production IG have pushed for the Marvel-style franchise model, which is the biggest killer of anime quality. Re:Zero, Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Sword Art Online— these series are all big money makers and the fact that they will be milked of any potential they have is an existential threat to the quality of anime. Is there any other potential solution to this problem?

**TL;DR**: I think there have been a decline in the quality of anime. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like the quality of anime has decreased over the years. I think this issue is related to the growing popularity of anime worldwide. There's a growing demand for anime and I don't think that the supply of quality creators and studios can keep up with the growing demand. I personally believe that this growing demand is exemplified by the overproduction of big budget LN adaptions of smaller source material. I think there are some potential solutions to this problem like reducing the amount of LN adaptions or hiring more animators.
